Fibromyaglia

fibromyalgia

Everyone is affected differently by Fibromyalgia.

When I was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I also had carpal tunnel in both hands. Surgery helped relieve the burning sensation in my hands, but my hands remain very weak and are often my main source of pain and discomfort.

Other symptoms come and go. A pain here, a pain there, but I always know it will disappear at some point. The hands? A constant, you just learn to live with it.

To compensate for the Fibromyalgia I have adjusted my lifestyle to minimize the discomfort. I know my limits, and what to expect when I push past those limits.

I have found that being able to sleep until I naturally wake up is very beneficial. Most days I wake up between 7:30 an 8:00, some days earlier, rarely later.

I can not remember the last time I slept through a night without waking up once or twice. I like to think when I wake up in the morning naturally it is because my body and mind have had enough rest.

I take my dog for a walk twice a day, some days with a gimp depending on if I am having a bad day with my hip, my back, a knee, or maybe my feet. I often wonder what my Thai neighbors think when they see me out there limping along.

Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t necessarily think my neighbors would notice. But I am in the middle of a construction zone, with 1 house across the street from me going up, and two next to me. Not to mention the fourth one down on the corner.

Thai construction workers are out there everyday, and walking with Jake always draws their attention. He is friendly with all of them, and they seem to enjoy him as well.
He actually has more friends than I do.

To keep my mind busy I build websites. It is a constant learning experience and provides challenges to spar with. Every new success is a win.

Happiness is a choice, one I try to make every day.

Laughter and humor are also a big part of happiness. Can you think of a time where you saw anyone laughing and unhappy at the same time? When I find something that makes me laugh I save it on Humor page so I can look through my collection when I need a boost of laughter.

A couple of friends talked me into going to a dance club one Saturday night. I was 15 years old, very shy, definitely did not know how to dance. Little did I know that night would have an everlasting effect and change the course of my life. The first guy to ask me to dance…

  • Grandma Martha

Ah, Grandma Martha. She was the epitome of what a grandmother should be. She was very down to earth, loving and fun. She was the type of person who was always helping other people. • Grandmother Elizabeth

My two grandmothers were on the opposite sides of the spectrum as far as grandmothers go. Elizabeth was my maternal grandmother. The impressions I carry of Grandmother Elizabeth are of a distant, self-absorbed haughty woman. Her head had a slight jiggle to it, much like Katherine Hepburn in her old age. I always felt like…
