Dreams of the Dragonfly
Dragonflies have always intrigued me. They are fanciful creatures that share this world with us. Catching a glimpse of a dragonfly has always been special to me, like enjoying the beauty of a rainbow, or catching a remarkable sunset.
Dragonflies start off life as a tiny egg, not much larger than the dot of a pencil. Once the egg hatches, it is in a larval stage, called a nymph.
The dragonfly Nymph lives underwater, hunting for food and trying to stay alive.
For a period of time, months for some, years for others, the Dragonfly Nymph continues to grow, and change and molt, until it eventually crawls out of the water.
Once out of the water, the skin dries and the thorax cracks, and the Adult Dragonfly begins to emerge from its shell. After the legs harden, it pulls itself upright, continuing its metamorphosis, until its body and wings harden, and it flies away, in its beautiful glory as a Dragonfly.
Perhaps the Nymph has dreams of someday being a Dragonfly, flying freely through the sky, seeking a mate, enjoying life as a Dragonfly.
We all have dreams, some of us are able to achieve our dreams, like the Dragonfly, some of us stay in the Nymph stage and never realize our potential.
Why is it that some of us succeed, and some of us fail?
To achieve your dream, you must first believe that it is possible. Daydreaming about what you think you can’t have is not a dream.
A dream is a vision of how you see your life, what you want in your life. It is clearly defined in your mind’s eye, it is how you want your gift of life to be spent while on this planet.
If you have no dream, life will carry you along the stream of circumstances, and you will find yourself trying to keep your head above water just to survive. Along the way you may begin to foster negative thoughts and feelings of hopelessness and defeat, keeping you stuck where you are.
Without a dream, you have no goals to reach, accomplishments to make, and you are missing out on a joyful aspect of living a better life.
Anyone and everyone can fulfill any dream they believe in.
